Joseph J. Gawronski
6 years as Director of Corporate Telecommunications and Data Center Operation for Sterling Commerce. Initially Mr. Gawronski was hired to manage the data center operations and improve operational up-time and achieve more consistent operating results across all shifts for a business operating in 4 floors of a single 5 story office building. Within one year, Mr. Gawronski was promoted and assigned responsibilty for all telecommunications, circuits, phones, PBXs, LAN/WAN cabling and infrastructure as well as data center operations. Within the 6 years, the business would grow into a campus of 4 buildings and Mr. Gawronski engineered and managed the installation of the telecom and LAN/WAN infrastructure within each of the new buildings while maintaining high levels of operational performance for data center, telecom, and LAN/WAN equipment.
4 years as a Senior Manager of web-hosting data center operations for UUNET which was later acquired by WorldCom. Although initially hired in 1998 to in-source, staff, and manage the operation of a single 15,000 sq.ft. data center in Hilliard Ohio, and provide advice on a second 7,000 sq. ft. data center operating in Tysons Corner, VA, Mr. Gawronski was called upon to develop infrastructure support materials like: staffing models, shift schedules, and complete operating policy and procedures manuals, standard tool and parts inventories, and prototype systems for asset control and on-line work-order submittal and tracking. As the web-hosting business grew from 2 centers with 22,000 sq. ft. to 15 sites with 845,000 sq. ft. these infrastructure materials were used to quickly ready each new site for activation and operation. Mr. Gawronski was an active participant in interviewing, selecting, and training new data center managers and their staffs. By 2003, Mr. Gawronski was a Senior Manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of 5 of the 15 sites. He also served as a resource, trouble-shooter, and consultant to the other 10 sites.
